Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") set out the conditions for using "waruni" (the "Service"), an expense-tracking service provided by daitaienn (the "Operator"). By using the Service, you (the "User") agree to these Terms.

This English version is a translation provided for convenience. If there is any difference between the Japanese version and this translation, the Japanese version prevails.

1. The Service

The Service helps small groups such as families, partners and housemates share a record of their expenses. It provides recording, lists and summaries of expenses, categories, recurring expenses, cost-splitting calculations, data export, an AI assistant, and related features.

The Service is intended mainly for users in Japan. English screens and documents are provided for convenience.

2. Accounts

  • You sign in with a code sent to your email address. The Service does not use passwords.
  • Each person may register one account, using their own email address.
  • You are responsible for managing your email address and signed-in devices. If you suspect that someone else is using your account, sign out of those devices from your account settings and contact the Operator.
  • If you are a minor, please obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before using the Service.

3. Groups and sharing

  • Expenses and other records are saved to a "group", and every member of the group can see and change them.
  • The owner of a group can invite and remove members and delete the group. Deleting a group permanently deletes all of its records.
  • Please send invite links only to the people you intend to invite.

4. Information you record

  • You keep your rights to the expenses, memos, images and other information you record in the Service ("Records").
  • The Operator handles Records only to provide, maintain and improve the Service, and for the purposes set out in the Privacy Policy.
  • The Operator does not look at the contents of Records except when necessary, for example to investigate a failure.
  • You must not record information that infringes the rights of others or violates the law.

5. AI assistant

  • The AI assistant creates, searches and summarizes Records at your request.
  • The AI's replies and readings may be inaccurate. Please check what it records.
  • When you use the AI assistant, your conversation, images and the necessary Records are sent to the company that provides the AI processing (Anthropic, PBC). See the Privacy Policy for details.
  • The Operator may limit how often the AI assistant can be used, depending on cost and load.

6. Fees

The Service is currently free. If paid features are introduced, the Operator will announce their price and content in advance.

7. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Act against the law or public order and morals
  • Impersonate others, for example by registering with someone else's email address
  • Place excessive load on, or gain unauthorized access to, the Service's servers or networks
  • Interfere with the operation of the Service
  • Use the Service commercially without the Operator's permission
  • Do anything else the Operator reasonably considers inappropriate

8. Suspension

If the Operator determines that you have violated, or may violate, these Terms, the Operator may suspend your account without prior notice.

9. Changes, interruption and termination

  • The Operator may change or end the Service. Before ending it, the Operator will give reasonable advance notice and let you export your Records during that period.
  • The Operator may temporarily stop the Service without notice for maintenance, failures, natural disasters and similar reasons.

10. Disclaimer

  • The Operator does not guarantee that the Service fits any particular purpose, is always accurate, or runs without interruption. Cost-splitting results are estimates; please confirm actual settlements among yourselves.
  • Except in cases of the Operator's intent or gross negligence, the Operator is not liable for damage arising from your use of the Service.
  • Even where the Operator is liable, except in cases of intent or gross negligence, its liability is limited to ordinary damage actually incurred by you.

11. Leaving the Service

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. How Records are handled after deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these Terms

The Operator may change these Terms when necessary. For important changes, the Operator will announce them in the Service and ask for your agreement again the next time you use it.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The district court having jurisdiction over the Operator's location shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for any dispute relating to the Service.
